The Lost Library
An ongoing worldbuilding project that was used for my first 3D animation assignment. This project, though mostly lost in a hard-drive crash, is what helped cement my love for creating in 3D.

Process
To go back to the very beginning of The Lost Library, I have to dust off one of my script writing assignments from my Sophomore year of college. It’s… not good. But from the horrendously cliche dialogue and simple premise came a world-building project that I still dabble in every once in a while.
In very simple terms, the story was about the rediscovery of a massive, ancient (and moderately technologically advanced) library by a researcher and his hired muscle, as they are making their way in on their inaugural expedition, they are cut off by a semi-functional remnant of the library’s ancient security system and forced lower into the subterranean halls.
Not the worst thing I could have come up with, but somewhat uninspired. Since then I have returned to the world and made a plethora of changes, as the world continues to change I will continue to update this page and its gallery.
As for the actual animation aspect of the project, I entirely bit off more than I could chew. I had planned to animate the first few scenes of my older script, up to the reveal of the library room itself, but that endeavor had me creating two rooms, two completely separate characters and rigs, figure out a program and medium I had never used before, all in the span of a few months.
I was not smart about this. I ended up creating one character (no clothes), one room, and around a minute of animation. I would not recommend that anybody do what I did for this project as I ended up doing the rigging and animation all within the last 36 hours of the semester. Needless to say, I have learned much since then but I am still somewhat impressed by the amount I was able to get done in my first few months of 3D animation.
